TCL prides itself on delivering quality electronic products for people on a budget. This year’s edition of CES sees the company bringing phones, tablets, and a laptop that doesn’t break the bank.
If you want to save more than a few bucks on your electronic devices, TCL is a brand you should check out. The brand pumps out very affordable products, and CES 2022 has been an outlet for even more budget devices.
TCL has revealed two new smartphone models out of the eight it will release this year. The two models exclusive to the US are the TCL 30 XE 5G and TCL 30 V 5g.
The 30 XE 5G has a 6.52-inch display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. With a 720p display, you will never mistake it for a flagship. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB in-built memory. On the back, you will find a 13-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. The phone is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery and comes with Android 11. T-Mobile is getting first dibs.
The 30 V 5G has a larger display, at 6.67 inches, but the resolution is upped to 1080p while the refresh rate drops to 60 Hz. This model gets the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM. The camera on the back is a massive 50-megapixel with ultra-wide 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel macro cameras. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel camera. Battery capacity is the same as the smaller model and comes with Android 11 too. The 30 V 5G is exclusive to Verizon.
Both phones will launch in the coming weeks.
TCL has also introduced three tablets that won’t affect your bank balance that much. The first is the NxtPaper 10S, which, like the name suggests, has what the manufacturer describes as a paper-like display. TCL says the 10.1-inch screen will help reduce eye strain with a 50 percent reduction in blue light and an anti-glare finish. The display takes pen input from TCL’s T Pen for notes and drawing. There is an 8,000 mAh battery underneath. European and Chinese buyers can get the tablet starting next month for $249.
The next budget tablet is the Tab 8 4G that is even more affordable. For $129 only, you get a 4,080 mAh battery and an optional 4G LTE connectivity. There is a 10.1 inch Tab 10L with no support for mobile connectivity but sports an HD screen and costs $99. TCL says the 8 4G will be available in Europe in the first quarter of 2022, while the 10 L will come to select markets at the same time.
The last TCL tablet is the TKEE made for kids. The company claims the tablet’s screen protects kids’ tender eyes. Each of the three tiers (Mini, Mid, and Max) comes with a rugged bumper for protection from rough handling. There is even a TKEE pen for writing and drawing on the tablets. The tablets cost $89, $149, and $119 respectively.
Lastly, TCL has decided to dabble into laptops, with the TCL Book 14 Go being its first effort. True to the brand, the laptop costs only $349, and you can set your expectations accordingly.
The Book 14 Go comes with Windows 11 and sports a 14.1-inch screen with 1366 x 768 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 40 Wh battery will last between 10 and 12 hours, which is not out of place as it is an ARM-based device with a Snapdragon 7c CPU and an Andreno 618 GPU.
The laptop has LTE connectivity and 128 GB of ROM, expandable with an SD card. TCL has not announced a release date yet.
