Pictures and specs of Samsung Ultra 14.6-inch tablet with notch leaks

Samsung makes nice tablets, and its next lineup may include a jumbo 14.6 inches Ultra model bearing a notch.

Going by reports, Samsung is prepping to release a flagship-worthy large tablet. The device is named Ultra and could be 14.6 inches diagonally. Furthermore, rumors indicate the screen is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 2960 x 1848 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 will protect the display from getting cracked easily.

However, in an unusual move for tablets, the Samsung Ultra could have a notch housing two cameras (each 12 MP) on the screen. If this turns out correct, expect relatively thin bezels.

The RAM is expected to be up to 16 GB paired with 512 GB of internal storage. All these will be powered by a massive 11,200 mAh battery.

Releasing alongside the Ultra is the Tab S8 Plus that reportedly is not getting a notch. The screen is still impressive 12.7 inches diagonally with a 2800 x 1752 resolution. The battery size is expected to be 10,090 mAh. RAM and ROM sizes are up to 8 GB and 256 GB, respectively.

Samsung will also release the Tab S8 with a smaller 11 inches screen that uses an LTPS TFT display. Resolution is 2560 x 1600 and will have no notch. The Tab S8 will have similar storage options with the Tab S8 Plus but a smaller 8000 mAh battery.

WinFuture, the source of the news, adds that each of the tablets may have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip paired with the Adreno 730 GPU graphic card. They will also have the same camera setup at the back, comprising a 13 MP dual primary camera and a 6MP lens for ultra-wide photos.

Since these are top-range Samsung tablets, you can expect all of them to support the S-Pen for inking. This means you can annotate documents, taking advantage of the large and sharp screen. Pictures, however, do not suggest storage options for the pen within the tablets. However, other features are under-display fingerprint readers, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and optional 5G connectivity.

Similarly, the three new Samsung tablets will have face unlock and support for SD cards. Charging and cable connectivity will take place through a USB-C 3.2 port.

The three tablets will run on Samsung’s One UI 4.1, based on Android 12.

Samsung last refreshed the tablet lineup in 2020 with only two devices; the Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus. The South Korean company is one of the biggest Android tablet makers, competing with the more popular Apple iPad lineup.

There is no definite info on pricing yet, but experts think when Samsung releases these tablets in Europe, the Ultra will cost between 1040 and 1220 euros, while the S8 Plus will go for something between 880 and 1110 euros. The S8 is expected to sell for between 680 and 900 euros.

The color options are yet to be released, but dark graphite seems to have been confirmed.

If you are interested in any of these tablets, get your wallet ready as Samsung might unleash them at the February 8th Samsung Unpacked event. This means they will debut alongside the Samsung Galaxy S22. If this does not pan out, expect them at the Mobile World Congress in Spain, starting on the last day of February. Whichever date turns out to be correct, these shiny new tablets are not so far in the future.
