Sony’s State of Play is widely recognized to be an incredible affair where they usually reveal some of the year’s most fantastic games. However, this time around they announced something known as the PlayStation showcase, which showed a ton of different projects that Sony’s highly talented studios are working on. So, without wasting any further time, let’s get right into the best announcements from Sony’s PlayStation Showcase in 2021!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

This was by far the second most surprising reveal of the event; no one at all saw this coming. Knights of the Old Republic, or more popularly known as KOTOR was a widely beloved RPG that really changed the way RPGs were made forever. The fact that this game is being remade was a highly surprising thing for fans, who had been begging for a remake for ages. This will be by far the most exciting news for Star Wars fans after ages of being disappointed either because of the bad movies, or the bad games by EA.

We genuinely don’t know how to feel about this game. On one hand it seems like yet another boring Final Fantasy clone when it comes to the dialogue writing and story. On the other hand, it features some of the most fluid animations in free running movement we’ve seen out of any third person game in a VERY long while. It looks unrealistically gorgeous, and for a game that’s yet to blow our minds, it already feels like a wonderful project coming from Square Enix.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

A game that is still reveling itself in mystery is Ghostwire Tokyo, all we know about this game is that we’re in Tokyo, fighting spiritual beings from Asian mythology. This is enough to get us hooked honestly, but the small snippets of gameplay that we’ve seen have been nothing short of spectacular. This game looks like Bethesda just once again throwing a pot of gold on us, this game seems like a furious mix of Arkane, DOOM and a ton of supernatural horror!

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection was being rumored around for a while, and we’re so glad that it’s finally coming out! Though, to be precise it doesn’t feature the first three games as the rumors had been speculating. However, it features the most graphically and mechanically advanced games in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted the Lost Legacy, which was the spinoff featuring Chloe as the main protagonist.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

This is a bit of a weird one, yet we kind of have hope! This was a game that was shown a little while ago at E3, and it felt like a great change of pace for Marvel games that aren’t Spider-Man! The game feels very inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and has a ton of unique dialogue which really does make you feel like it would be a cinematic adventure. This third person action adventure game is slated to release very soon on October 26th of 2021. Make sure to keep it on your radar!

Spider-Man 2

Moving on from one Marvel game to another, Insomniac makes a massive return to form with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. There is a reason why this particular trailer became the highlight of the show, and that is all because of Venom. See, the version of Venom that we’re seeing in this game is by far going to be the best, or at least the most accurate to its original source material related to the comics so far. There was also a narration by a man with an accent, which leads fans to think that they are bringing Kraven the Hunter into the game. This is going to be a wild, trippy ride that we’ll remember for ages!

Marvel’s Wolverine

THIS! This was by far the biggest surprise that anyone could have ever expected from the PlayStation showcase. Literally, no one expected a Wolverine game to be made by Sony, and that too by developers as amazing as Insomniac Games. Insomniac literally never misses with any of their games, whether it’s Sunset Overdrive, Ratchet and Clank or Spider-Man, they’ve made 10/10 games one after the other. So, a Wolverine game being created by geniuses will definitely have us hooked.

God of War – Ragnarok

God of War – Ragnarok, a game that has been so hyped since God of War 2018 released that it has become the most asked for game for the past 3 years. Finally, we’ve got some footage and it looks absolutely glorious. This game seems to mix in a huge amount of features, a wide variety of enemies and an even larger map than the 2018 game. There is going to be a ton of heartbreak, a chock full of Norse mythology and we’re definitely going to see Ragnarok as Kory Balrog told us that it will be the final installment in Kratos’ Norse Saga!
